  </title>
  <description type="1">
    <narrative xml:lang="en">The Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA) is a global coalition responding to the urgent challenges faced by vulnerable communities from climate change. The membership is made up of researchers, funders, policymakers, development bodies, and community-based organisations committed to action-oriented research for adaptation that supports climate resilient futures. &#13;
&#13;
The global research community mobilises and connects to governments, communities, and vulnerable groups on the frontlines of climate change. It endorses research that is designed through equitable collaboration, centred on users, and focused on generating solutions. By highlighting the critical role that research can play in informing effective adaptation action at local, national, and global levels, ARA works to reduce the risks from climate change.&#13;
&#13;
ARA's mission is:&#13;
To accelerate and scale investments in action-oriented research that addresses the pressing knowledge needs for adaptation and resilience of the most vulnerable. To build capacity at all stages from research to action, to strengthen research implementation linkages, and to promote greater global learning.&#13;
&#13;
ARA endorses the Adaptation Research for Impact Principles framework for action-oriented research that is driven by user needs, co-produced with local experts, and equitable in practice.&#13;
&#13;
Secretariat: &#13;
Since 2025, the ARA Secretariat is hosted by the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and Chulalongkorn University Social Research Institute (CUSRI), in Bangkok. It was previously hosted by SouthSouthNorth (SSN), a leading not-for-profit organization based in Cape Town, South Africa.</narrative>

accelerate equitable, sustainable and low-carbon transportation in Thailand via congestion charging. Spanning 25 months, the project follows a mixed-methods and co-creative approach, building on the 2022 pre-feasibility study conducted under the TRANSfer project implemented by to investigate implications of the congestion charging scenarios to vulnerable groups, and consider broad societal costs and benefits including health and safety impacts. The main output will be an endorsed implementation roadmap for Bangkok. Consultations and training will also be undertaken with selected secondary Thai cities to scope further expansion of the model.</narrative>
