    <narrative xml:lang="en">Civil Society for Equality and Environment</narrative>
  </title>
  <description type="1">
    <narrative xml:lang="en">Civil Society for Equality and Environment (Oct 2025–2028) is a program implemented by Svalorna Latinamerika in consortium with Föräldralösa Barn (Adoptionscentrum) and Regnskogsföreningen. The program aims to strengthen local civil society organizations so they can effectively contribute to organizational development, equality and human rights, as well as environment and climate action.&#13;
&#13;
The overall vision is a pluralistic and strong civil society that defends rights, strengthens participation and empowerment of marginalized groups, and contributes to protecting the environment and climate. The program is based on the clear interlinkages between environmental degradation, climate change, shrinking civic space, and violations of the rights of women, children, and indigenous peoples. Vulnerable groups are disproportionately affected by conflict, disasters, and ecological degradation, making a strong civil society essential for long-term and structural change.&#13;
&#13;
The program is implemented in rural areas of Latin America (Bolivia, Peru, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala), in several countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe (including India, Serbia, South Africa, Vietnam, and Zambia), and in the Brazilian Amazon.&#13;
&#13;
The primary target groups are marginalized women, children, and indigenous and forest-dependent communities. Strategic (secondary) target groups include parents, teachers, public authorities, journalists, ranchers, and other duty bearers who influence the realization of rights and sustainable development.&#13;
&#13;
Through participatory and creative methods, the program promotes local ownership, inclusion, and innovation.&#13;
&#13;
The program is built around three mutually reinforcing objective areas:&#13;
&#13;
1. Organizational Development&#13;
The capacity of civil society organizations is strengthened through improved governance, internal controls, financial management, safeguarding systems, and advocacy work. Through leadership development and strengthened internal structures, organizations become more sustainable, resilient, and better equipped to influence decision-makers, hold duty bearers accountable, and secure long-term and diversified funding.&#13;
&#13;
2. Equality and Human Rights&#13;
The program promotes gender equality through improved access to SRHR, prevention of gender-based violence, women’s economic empowerment, and leadership development. Children’s rights are strengthened through family support, child protection systems, access to education, and safe spaces for participation, supported by strong safeguarding mechanisms. Indigenous and forest-dependent communities are supported to secure land rights, strengthen their advocacy capacity, and develop sustainable livelihoods. All work is guided by a Human Rights Based Approach and consistently integrates gender, environmental, and conflict perspectives.&#13;
&#13;
3. Environment and Climate&#13;
The program promotes sustainable natural resource management, increased climate resilience, and reduced deforestation. Interventions include reforestation, agroecology, water management, climate-smart agriculture, and disaster preparedness. In the Brazilian Amazon, particular focus is placed on protecting indigenous territories, securing land rights, monitoring deforestation, and promoting deforestation-free supply chains.&#13;
&#13;
These approaches strengthen the organization, voice, and agency of target groups, while strong systems for governance, transparency, and accountability ensure effective and results-based implementation.&#13;
&#13;
Overall the program seeks to contribute to stronger and more resilient civil society organizations that can effectively promote human rights, equality, and environmental and climate sustainability in their respective contexts.</narrative>
