<narrative xml:lang="en">Increases the resilience of civic space to the rising use of Strategic Lawsuits (SLAPPs) targeting journalists and CSOs</narrative> The project triggers tangible steps forward in the domain of the rule of law and the enabling environment for civil society to operate. This will be achieved through supporting judges to detect and counter SLAPP tactics, training for human rights lawyers to provide quality legal aid to SLAPP targets across Serbia, bringing CSOs closer to block legislation that hinder free speech, and alerting citizens via campaigns to SLAPP threats against their rights. The project leads to systemic shifts: refined judicial practices against SLAPPs, improved legal framework for civic space actors to fulfil their role in a democratic society, an expanded pool of skilled future lawyers, and narrative shifts on human rights in the general public.
