TZ-NNCB-00NGOR0266-ABILIPJ1496 Inland Development Services The Agroforestry and Biodiversity Conservation for Livelihood Improvement (ABILI) project is a crucial three-year initiative (January 2026 – December 2028) designed to tackle the escalating environmental and economic challenges faced by smallholder farming households in Butiama and Tarime districts of the Mara Region, Tanzania. Despite the region agricultural potential, communities face declining yields, widespread land degradation, and heightened vulnerability due to erratic rainfall and climate change. Furthermore, persistent gender inequalities limit women access to critical resources and decision-making power, undermining long-term resilience efforts. Implemented by Inland Development Services (IDS) and coordinated under the broader Vi Agroforestry ASILIB-CC Programme, ABILI aims to strengthen climate resilience, improve food and nutrition security, and promote biodiversity conservation. The project will directly benefit 4,993 individuals (3,005 women and 1,988 men) from 1,232 households, building on the achievements and lessons learned from the previous ASILI-B phase (2023–2025).
