GB-CHC-1062638-MYA25 Disasters Emergency Committee On 28 March 2025, a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake devastated huge areas of Myanmar. Thousands of people were killed, and hundreds of thousands more lost their homes, businesses and livelihoods. The country was already facing a severe humanitarian crisis, with a third of the population in need of humanitarian aid. One year on, funds are continuing to support people impacted by the earthquake as they rebuild their lives and look towards the future. In the first six months of the DEC funded response, more than 530,000 people received urgently needed support. It will take years for this region to recover from the earthquake, but donations to the DEC Myanmar Earthquake Appeal are supporting people as they look towards the future.
