TZ-NNCB-00NGO00010158-SRPEAATZ CIVIC SOCIAL PROTECTION FOUNDATION (CSP) The project, " Strengthening a Resilient Policy Environment for Agroforestry Advancement in Tanzania (2026–2028)," aims to strengthen the policy, planning, budgeting, and accountability environment necessary for scaling up agroforestry in Tanzania. The activity focuses on addressing the gap between national agroforestry policies and their implementation at district and community levels. CSP will generate and use evidence on agroforestry policy gaps, budget allocations, and implementation through policy analysis, budget analysis, policy briefs, and Social Accountability Monitoring (SAM). The project will facilitate structured policy dialogues involving farmer organisations, District Agriculture Platforms, local government authorities, Members of Parliament, ministries, civil society organisations, research institutions, and the media. These engagements will provide opportunities for stakeholders to review agroforestry priorities, discuss challenges, and develop practical recommendations for policy and budget improvement. At the local level, the project will support district councils to integrate agroforestry targets into annual plans and budgets, establish dedicated budget lines, and monitor the use of allocated resources. Farmer representatives, particularly women and youth, will be trained and mentored in policy advocacy, budget tracking, social accountability, and participation in planning and decision-making processes. The project will also strengthen the Tanzania Agroforestry Actors Network and collaboration among civil society, research institutions, government agencies, and media to coordinate advocacy and disseminate evidence. Through these activities, the project seeks to increase political commitment, improve financing and implementation of agroforestry policies, strengthen citizen accountability, and ultimately contribute to improved smallholder livelihoods, environmental restoration, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience in Tanzania.
